Facts About Yachts23 May 2017For those people who have made the great decision to purchase their first own yacht, the right decision and process can be confusing and even stressful.
According to the experience of the majority of yacht owners, they suggest that it is wise to begin with a smaller yacht and gradually increase the yacht size if needed. With purchasing a smaller yacht, your taste and preferences will develop with time and you might decide to change size, model, etc.
Moreover, before even purchasing your first yacht it is suggested you educate yourself on the various terms and conditions and get professional advice and guidance in not only choosing the right “beginner yacht” for you, but also to give you an idea of the process of regulations, flag, berth registration and systems. By starting within a smaller category, you can slowly build a confident relationship within the yachting industry.

Security on Another Level21 May 2017Only recently there have been cyber attacks on large organizations and individual data base users. The hackings are getting more severe with the developing of technology and it has become the new weapon of modern thieves and criminals.
Now many superyacht owners fear of encountering such a cyber attack on their yacht navigation systems and data bases. Not only boats, but yacht agencies and and crews are at risk for these kinds of hacks. Data bases, accounts, bank details and addresses are vulnerable to cyber hackings. Hackers are able to delete or modify information which could be used against the yacht owners and crew. A yacht owned by a billionaire was hacked a few years ago and the result was theft and blackmailing with a demand for and exchange of money for “freeing” the vessel. Fortunately for the yacht owners and agencies, our systems become stronger. Hackings are becoming more frequent, thus more safety measures are taken to guarantee the safety of everyone. Cyber security training will be more common in the standard crew training programs in which the cyber security of crews is already strongly developed in the Mediterranean area.
